Privacy Policy

How Backbook handles the data you entrust to us.

Template — last updated 2026. This summarizes our intended practices and is not a substitute for the final policy reviewed by counsel before launch.

What we collect

To reconcile commissions we process the carrier statements and book-of-business data you upload or connect (policy numbers, premiums, commission amounts, insured names as they appear on statements), plus account data (name, email, organization) for authentication.

How we use it

Solely to provide the service — extracting statement lines, reconciling them against your rates, producing your recovery worklist and draft dispute letters. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to train third-party AI models.

AI processing & zero retention

Statement extraction and letter drafting use Anthropic's API configured for zero data retention — content isn't retained by the provider beyond the request and isn't used for training. Every extracted line keeps provenance back to its source row.

Storage & security

Data is stored in a managed Postgres database (US region) with encryption in transit and at rest. Handling is aligned to the GLBA Safeguards Rule and the NAIC Insurance Data Security Model Law; SOC 2 controls are in progress.

Your data, your control

Each organization's data is isolated to that tenant. You can request export or deletion of your organization's data at any time by contacting us.
